About

Hi there!

My name is Kirsty and I live with my husband, our two daughters aged 11 and 7, and our gorgeous Groodle, Eddie, on one and a half acres in a very small town just half an hour from Canberra, Australia’s capital.

In 2009 we were living in the suburbs of Sydney and dreaming of a different life.

Then a series of events occurred which inspired us to throw caution to the wind and set out to create that life we’d imagined. We traded our view of a busy road and crowded houses for a beautiful rural hillside with kangaroos, wombats, rare black cockatoos and misty morning sunrises.

We’ve slowed from a fast trot to an amble; there is no road rage; people wave and say hello as they pass; and we still have a decent-sized city just 30 minutes away.

If this isn’t the best of both worlds, I don’t know what is!

This blog is about moving to the country, our journey toward building the home we’ve dreamed of, and being inspired on a daily basis by our beautiful environment and the people around us to create a simple but wonderful life.

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Catch the trade wind in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
